Félix Rocha Special Selection – Regional Lisbon Red Wine 2008 made with Syrah Merlot and Alicante Bouschet grape varieties Production The vineyards are planted in clay-limestone soils from the Jurassic period. With over a decade of age, the sun exposure in the Southwest and the care taken in viticulture guarantee excellent quality grapes. The average yield is 30hl/ha. Winemaking Harvesting is carried out at the peak of phenolic ripeness Syrah and Merlot harvested in mid-September Alicante Bouschet harvested in early October Harvesting is done manually in 20kg boxes Fermentation takes place in presses with foot treading for better extraction of color and aromas The wine undergoes a short post-fermentation maceration and malolactic fermentation in new barrels Aging The wine was aged 75 percent in French Oak and 25 percent in American Oak for 12 months followed by 6 months in bottle Tasting notes This wine has good volume with ripe and firm tannins. In the aroma, black fruits and black pepper stand out.
