Félix Rocha Alicante Bouschet 2018 is a red wine from the Lisbon region produced exclusively from the Alicante Bouschet grape variety The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils from the Jurassic period and are over a decade old The sun's exposure to the southwest and the viticultural work guarantee high quality grapes The average yield is 40hl per hectare.
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September, at the peak of phenolic ripeness. The grapes are picked into 20 kg boxes and quickly transported to the winery, guaranteeing the preservation of quality. They undergo total destemming. Fermentation takes place in a temperature-controlled press, with foot treading for better extraction of color and aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, post-fermentative maceration and malolactic fermentation take place in new French and American oak barrels.
The wine is aged for twelve months in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels, followed by six months in the bottle
It has an opaque garnet color. The aroma is complex, highlighting the identity of the grape variety with predominant notes of ripe red fruit, wild berries, dark chocolate and balsamic.
On the palate it reveals a dry profile with freshness and velvety tannins that add intensity and structure It is voluminous, filling the entire palate with elegance The finish is long and persistent
The alcohol content is 15.5% with a total acidity of 5.50 g/l and a pH of 3.70 The reducing sugar content is less than 0.6 g/l.
For best preservation, we recommend storing this wine in a horizontal position away from direct light in a cool, humid place This wine has not been bonded or stabilized and is subject to depositing The expected shelf life is fifteen years.
Should be served between 17 and 18 degrees Celsius Pairs well with red meat, lamb or roast kid, game dishes and hard cheeses.
