Félix Rocha Petit Verdot 2019 is a wine sourced in the Lisbon region from the Petit Verdot grape variety The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils from the Jurassic period, more than a decade old, with sun exposure to the southwest The average yield of grapes is 40hl per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand at the peak of phenolic ripeness in mid-September. The grapes are picked into 20kg boxes and transported quickly to the winery, guaranteeing the preservation of quality. After total destemming, fermentation takes place in a temperature-controlled press, followed by foot treading for better extraction of color and aromas. The process includes post-fermentative maceration and malolactic fermentation in new French oak casks. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak casks and a further six months in the bottle before being released onto the market It has an intense ruby color The aroma has a striking profile with notes of ripe red fruit, floral nuances and toasty and spicy touches from the ageing in wood The palate is full-bodied, intense but well-balanced with fruity notes of chocolate and mint The acidity is well integrated, giving a persistent finish The alcohol content is 13.5% with a total acidity of 5.92 g/l and a pH of 3.55 Reducing sugars are less than 0.6 g/l. For best conservation, it is recommended to store in a horizontal position away from direct light in a cool place with some humidity As it has not been glued or stabilized, it may create deposits over time The expected lifespan is 10 years. Ideal to be consumed between 17 and 18 degrees Celsius Pairs well with hard cheeses, grilled and well-seasoned red meats and veal or lamb in the oven The winemaker responsible for producing this wine is Luís Maia
